Announcing the Thirteenth Annual
Chappell Family X-MAS Rave!
So this is now the 3nd year of me using the "Power of Technology"
also known ast "PoT" and thus all I have to do is edit a few pages
and not worry about feeling guilty about using the printer at work.
Some of you that have never experienced this "Rave" may not now some
history.. These invitations used to be gargantuan. Some people
looked forward to them Most however just threw them in the trash..
However, many still feel the need know what happened to the 4 page paper
version of the invite. Well, to be honest, it just became to hard. After I read this very interesting article about the Twitter Curve
I realized how much of an annoyance it really was for some and
most of you really just want a condensed easily ignored version of the
invite.
I realized that many of my friends are like me and thus, like me, they have A.D.D.
Oh look a truck! Oh. sorry. Hence, I have found that we need to be in an easily un-focused, informational style,
online format. Thus I have created this web site. The main reason is
that you are probably like me and you would open up my old style invite
and maybe, just maybe, if you are like me, you would get an e-mail in the middle of reading the invite.
You think to yourself: "It will only take a second to see what the e-mail is." And then that
"second" turns into a minute, or an hour, if the e-mail is
interesting then it reminds you that you need to check some of the forums that
you belong to and now it's over10 minutes because the forum article
you started reading links to other interesting articles. Then it becomes 15 minutes because
you feel the need to tell other people about that other interesting thing.
Now
Imagine that same kind of concept for me to try and write a 4 page
invite. So, perhaps you can see, the Invite/Whatever that I am trying
to convey gets ignored. And by the time I have come back from the
unfocused scatter-gun like surfing, I have forgotten that next witty
sentence I was going to write. If you add all the distractions of
checking emails, IM, and checking the stats for my web sites, then you
will soon realize why it has always taken me too long to write this web
site up!
So,
to summarize: Stop reading this Web site! Get back to work! Or,
alternatively, set aside a time of the day where you close down all
distractions; email, IM, RSS feeds, etc. and enjoy some quality
"focused" time. Or just click on the RSVP link below....
